Encouraging Creativity. By having your children take part in coloring activities such as online coloring or printable coloring sheets you are encouraging their creativity. Helping a child develop their imagination and creativity will help them learn to express themselves. Some children may have a difficult time expressing themselves but as they continue to be creative they will often start to open up more readily.

Just like guided meditation, coloring allows us to switch off our brains from other thoughts and worries and focus only on the moment, helping to alleviate stress and anxiety. It can be particularly effective for people who aren't comfortable with more creatively expressive forms of art, like painting or writing. The participants who are more guarded find a lot of tranquility in coloring images. It feels safer for them and it creates containment around the coloring process.

Three Advices from Parents!

First:

The theme: Coloring books generally have a theme of sorts. It might be that they are based on a Disney movie, or it is about animals, or vehicles, or something else. When selecting books for your children, remember that they will want to express their creativity, and will have a lot of fun with any coloring book, but will be more interested in a coloring booklet with a theme that appeals to them. Choose a color book that features their favorite characters, or the item of interest in their life. For example, if your little boy just loves trains, get a Thomas the Train coloring book. If your little girl is as girly as they come, look for the Disney Princess coloring book, or possibly Strawberry Shortcake.

Second:

The net, activity booklets in dollar stores, family restaurants, or even sometimes at public libraries are sources of coloring pages, simple black and white drawings most commonly of cute cartoon characters.

Third advice:

Long road trips can be a big hassle, especially when you've got a couple of kids in the backseat fighting with each other, and they'll definitely need some distractions like coloring books, crayons, and coloring pages. Average eight hours a day of driving and negotiation with the kids to stay calm in the backseat and its enough to make you not only stressed out, but even sick.
